08 Ffault meaning: BUS voltage too high

Attention please, 08fault may be caused by PV side leakage current, you had better check if your solar panel cover has connected to earth well.

Triggering condition:

• BUS voltage is greater than 510V and lasts for 20.8ms

• BUS voltage reaches greater than 500V and lasts for 1s

What’s Bus Voltage?

BUS Voltage Principle:

1. PV system can be converted into BUS voltage via BOOST Circuit
2. Battery System can be converted into BUS voltage via DC-DC Circuit.

Testing Method:

Lead acid battery:

• When 08fault occurs, Firstly check if PV input voltage is in the normal range like 150-450V, too high PV voltage will cause bus voltage too high
• Please confirm if real battery voltage is normal, too high battery voltage also will cause bus voltage too high
• Please confirm if 19th ( Bulk Charging voltage), 20th (Floating charging voltage) is normal, wrong value also will casue 08fault

Lithium-ion battery withou communication:

• When 08fault occurs, Firstly check if PV input voltage is in the normal range like 150-450V, too high PV voltage will cause bus voltage too high
• Please check if 5th option has already been set as US2 which is specially designed for lithium-ion battery without communication
• Please confirm if 19th ( Bulk Charging voltage), 20th (Floating charging voltage) is normal, wrong value also will casue 08fault

Lithium-ion battery that is communicating with inverter:

• When 08fault occurs, Firstly check if PV input voltage is in the normal range like 150-450V, too high PV voltage will cause bus voltage too high
• When battery is communicating with inverter, Inverter is taken over by BMS of battery, charging current , Bulk charing voltage is decided by BMS. You can try to set US2 on 5th option, less than 30A on 2nd option for single battery , and observe if 08fault still occurs. If 08fault still occurs and lithium-ion battery voltage is normal, definitely it is caused by mainboard or MPPT board.

When you exclude above factors and restart the inverter ( just connect battery into inverter ), if 08fault still occurs, it must be caused by mainboard or MPPT board. The solution is to replace mainboard or MPPT board. Most of time, it is mainboard issue.

When you exclude above factors and restart the inverter ( just connect battery into inverter ), if 08fault disappears, and serveral days or half a month later, it appears agan. Please request special firmware from [email protected]. Please note that it is temporary solution, based on experience, mainboard or MPPT board had better be replaced.

SOlution:

1. After the restart , 08fault still occurs, replace mainboard or MPPT board directly, most of time, it is mainboard issue
2. Ater the restart, if 08fault disappears, plesae try to Upgrade Special firmware of 08fault. Based on the experience, after upgrading , maybe half a month , one month later, if it occurs again, you had better replace mainboard.
